My recent encounter with an accident provoked me to write this page. In India there is no effective emergency services, at least people are not aware of it. There is no common help line numbers across the country. Each state have their own emergency help line ..... or not even have one. I appreciate the 108 services of Tamil Nadu which is common for Police, Fire & Medical emergency across Tamil Nadu.
108 services are widely appreciated in all over Tamil Nadu, but the services are having their own limitations among the villages.Especially the ambulances are stationed near Government Hospitals are in smaller towns. In case of a medical emergency in a village large amount of time is involved to position the ambulance services. Absence of roads in many villages further delays the positioning of these services.
In my opinion, Government Of India should make it mandatory to all panchayts, Schools and Government offices in Villages to have First Aid Points and trained First Aid providers in their premises. Teachers in Village Schools may be trained for First Aid and an incentive may be given for the each service they render.Infact the Government should make it mandatory for all Government employees and politicians to pass First Aid Test prior any career enhancements or contesting elections respectively.Further having common emergency help line(in line of USA's 911) across the country will help the visitors and tourists to a large extent.
By implementing few of this will give the luxury of having sufficient first aid providers in the villages and that will definitely save few more lives.
